Model Scratch Building – Lebeus Woods

By on November 25, 2020 in Build with 0 Comments

After a long hiatus from sculpting in the studio I have returned to 3d with small steps. Earlier this year I focused on a series of pen and ink drawings based upon Inktober setups. This worked really well for about four months, but then, as always, I became bored. I think I also became depressed with the COVID outbreak and the increasing lunacy of our President. Earlier this summer I found a gateway back to 3d when my neighbor introduced some ideas around model building and surface design. I decided that building airplanes is fun, but I need an expressive outlet — hence I came to scratch building in styrene. Here is a photo of about 2 months of work on a replica of a Lebeus Woods architectural drawing. I’m experimenting with engraving the plastic to capture the panels. I’m using india ink to highlight and test the depth of the engraving.
