clay figurative under construction

business as usual in Calais

This is a purely slab built figurative work that was supposed to include the legs. I started at the torso level and thought that I would work both up and down and then assemble pre and post firing. As they say, ‘the best laid plans…’ I will try to take a run at the full figure again in a future effort, but for now this is starting to come to the finish of the build stage nicely. If you cannot tell this will be a business man wearing a London Fog trench coat, leaning forward. The nuances are getting worked out in my sketchbook and you’ll just have to return to see what interesting ideas will be overlayed on top.
